Community Service

Community Service is a year round commitment for the students, staff and parents of Athens Montessori.  Each year we collect coins, canned food, coats, books and blankets for local charities.  Individual classrooms hold fund raising events during the year to benefit local, national and international organizations such as OXFAM, UNICEF, The Red Cross, Bear Hollow.
Service Learning Projects
take place at places such as the Food Bank of North East Georgia, Agribility,  Rivers Alive, Hands on Athens, Athens Homeless shelter.

Fund Raising for Athens Montessori School is grouped together in three major events:

The Fall Festival: Day-long fun for all the family the first Saturday in November.
The Spring Auction:
Silent and loud auction with dinner and entertainment in March/April.
The Annual Fund:
Tax deductible donations made throughout the year by alumni, families and friends.

Other Fundraising Opportunities and Special Events:

Shop for Montessori: Opportunities to support the school are offered through Kroger gift cards, Publix scan cards, Target credit cards and Box Tops coupons.  From time to time the Office carries a variety of merchandise for sale (bags, T shirts, note cards, coffee, jewelry, etc.).
Monthly Events:
Parents’ Night Out is on the second Friday of each month, and Skate Night is on the third Thursday of each month.
Seasonal Social Events:
The Montessori students, staff, families and friends gather together in the Spring and Fall for  Family dinners on the front field, and Landscape work days.
Annual Events:
Within the school day the whole student community will often gather to celebrate various events such as United Nations International Day of Peace, Earth Day, Arbor day, Chinese New Year, Halloween, May Day, Mardi Gras.  Family Music Concerts and Musical Drama Productions are also fixtures on the school calendar.
